Wallabies would be playing the All Blacks in the Semi Final next Sunday and that neither team would be able to field a fly half that can lead them around the field?
While yet to be ordained by the selectors, the All Blacks will select Aaron Cruden as their fly half. He is the last man standing. The former IRB Junior Player of the Year in 2009 has just seven tests to his name, six as a replacement and a less than convincing Super Rugby pedigree to date.
He was not selected in the original 30 man squad and was busy planning his Fijian holiday from all reports.Yet, on the back of groin injuries to Dan Carter, the best fly-half in the world, and the wretched Colin Slade, he is now the All Blacks play maker.
He also becomes the custodian of the All Blacks and host country New Zealand’s future in the 2011 tournament. He is also responsible for removing the monkey from the back of the All Blacks that they cannot win the big ones at World Cup time.
This is a tall order for any player and arguably one of the greatest challenges in sport.
This is a game for the All Blacks to lose and the Wallabies to win. There are several big “ifs” that will determine the outcome of the All Blacks Wallabies Semi Final.
